Heated Rice Pack
Yesterday morning was the first really cold morning of the school year. I was feeling bad that my kids were going to have to walk to the bus stop and stand in the cold waiting for the bus. It wasn't cold enough for me to drive them, but I wanted them to be warm. I hurried and got some material scraps from some pumpkins I had made and quickly sewed a rice bag, put rice in it, closed it and heated for the kids to take to the bus stop. It seriously took 5 minutes for me to make 2 of them. All the other kids at the bus stop were freezing, but these kids stayed warm with their new rice packs.
Healthy Crispy Chicken Recipe
I am always looking for new/healthy recipes that my kids will like. This was a hit last night. All my kids liked this! We love fried chicken, but I hate to make it because it is so greasy and unhealthy. I saw this recipe on the back of the Kellogg Corn Flakes cereal box.
Ingredients
- 7 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes® cereal (crushed)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup fat-free milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 pounds chicken pieces, (without or with skin) rinsed and dried
- 3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
Directions
1. Place KELLOGG'S CORN FLAKES cereal in shallow dish or pan. Set aside.
2. In medium mixing bowl, beat egg and milk slightly. Add flour, salt and pepper. Mix until smooth. Dip chicken in batter. Coat with cereal. Place in single layer, in shallow baking pan coated with cooking spray or foil lined. Drizzle with margarine.
3. Bake at 350° F about 1 hour or until chicken is tender, no longer pink and juices run clear. Do not cover pan or turn chicken while baking. Serve hot

Darling girls watches...
I absolutely love these watches. They are pretty popular right now, and fun to make. I wanted to get some for my girls, but they cost more than I wanted to spend, so I decided to make them some. I made each of these watches for $10. It cost $5 for the watch face ordered online and then $5 more for the beads and all the other stuff. A friend that knew what she was doing helped me. I think they are so cute and petite for my girls little wrists.
p.s. I know these aren't great pictures, but you get the idea.

Banana Pops
For breakfast I tried something that my kids really liked. I cut a banana in half, stabbed a fork in the end (you could use a popsicle stick or sucker stick) spread vanilla yogurt on it, and rolled it in crushed graham crackers. I have also rolled it in granola. The kids really liked this. You could have a lot of fun with it.
